Senior Inspector — Construction Engineering Inspection

Job overview

The Senior Inspector role is full-time and onsite in Columbia, SC, with the posting open to candidates throughout South Carolina. Pay is $28–$45 per hour. DRMP’s Construction Engineering Inspection group supports construction projects through field inspection, testing, and documentation. The inspector performs complex field assignments and coordinates lower-level inspectors under general Project Manager supervision. The role helps verify that construction work, materials, dimensions, and installations meet project specifications and supports accurate project records and estimates.

What you'll do

• Document contractor work
• coordinate with contractor field personnel and utility owners
• prepare project field books and earthwork logs
• sample and test materials
• assist with final estimate packages
• measure construction dimensions
• verify levels, alignment, and elevation
• observe work for compliance with procedures and specifications
• inspect finished installations
• record material quantities
• maintain daily construction and inspection logs and compare progress reports.

Why this role

Requires a high school diploma and at least four years of DOT roadway and/or bridge construction experience, or a civil engineering degree with specified CEI and Engineer Intern experience. The position requires at least 40 hours per week, with possible overtime.
