Lead Engineering Technician

Job overview

The Lead Engineering Technician role can be onsite at an Apex office or hybrid, with offices in Fargo, Bismarck, or Dickinson, ND, and Detroit Lakes, St. Cloud, or Minnetonka, MN. The hourly base pay range is $35–$50. Apex Engineering Group works on highway and urban roadway projects from design through construction. The role contributes technical design and construction support as a project team member, using CADD skills to develop project plans and serving as Chief Inspector on construction projects. It also supports field documentation, inspection, materials testing, surveying, and the development of junior staff as project needs require.

What you'll do

• Prepare dimensional drawings and design layouts using CADD software
• calculate roadway and utility dimensions, profiles, and material quantities
• follow company and client CADD standards
• support project plans and specifications
• perform construction observation and inspection, surveying, and materials testing
• document construction progress and quantities
• communicate with contractors and project managers
• train junior staff. Travel and overnight stays may be required.
