The Lateral Police Officer role is onsite in Hood River, OR. Compensation is $34.47–$39.14 per hour. The Columbia River Inter-Tribal Police Department provides law enforcement at 31 treaty fishing access sites and other tribal lands along the Columbia River’s Zone 6 area. The officer patrols by vehicle and boat, enforces fishing regulations and tribal codes, and responds to incidents. The role applies prior law enforcement experience while respecting the cultural practices of the four member tribes and providing assistance to tribal members and other citizens.

• Conduct vehicle and boat patrols

• learn and apply tribal, state, and federal laws and codes
• investigate incidents and violations
• issue warnings and citations
• apprehend violators
• prepare reports and court cases
• process evidence and property
• safely operate boats, vehicles, firearms, radios, and other equipment
• assist tribal members and citizens.

Why this role

Requires one to three years as a sworn law enforcement officer and completion of a Basic Training Police Academy. Officers generally must reside within the specified Zone 6 area after training.
