The Wig Lead — Wig and Hair Department role is onsite in Ashland, OR. Compensation is $30.16 per hour. The Oregon Shakespeare Festival presents a rotating repertory season of plays and musicals and aims to create world-class theatre through interpretations of new and classic works. The Wig Lead creates and maintains wigs, hairstyles, facial hair, and specialty makeup for productions. The role collaborates with costume designers, supports performers and rehearsals, mentors crew members, and helps preserve the approved artistic design throughout the season.

What you'll do

• Build, ventilate, front, style, and maintain wigs and facial hair
• execute hairstyles and specialty makeup
• collaborate with costume designers and department management on looks, actor needs, materials, and workloads
• prioritize and delegate projects
• train and teach wig crew
• conduct fittings and assist actors
• attend technical and dress rehearsals
• execute wig and hair changes, including quick changes
• maintain show information and design consistency.

Why this role

Full-time, non-exempt union position with IATSE Local 154; expected start November 2, 2026, and end October 17, 2027. Schedule is irregular, generally five to six days per week, including evenings and weekends.
