Failure Analysis Technician

Job overview

The Failure Analysis Technician role is onsite in Durham, NC. Compensation is $19–$23 per hour. The technician works with engineering teams to troubleshoot electronic hardware and improve product reliability. The role exists to diagnose and repair hardware failures, identify root causes, and document findings so engineering and related teams can resolve technical issues. It also supports reliability testing, prototype builds, and engineering validation activities.

What you'll do

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic hardware at component level
• perform root cause analysis using schematics, test logs, and electronic test equipment
• interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
• use oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, logic analyzers, and microscopes
• inspect PCBs, solder and rework components, and test cables and harnesses
• monitor reliability testing and investigate failures
• collaborate with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and reliability teams
• assist with test station setup, prototype builds, fixtures, and validation
• document procedures, repairs, and findings
• support continuous improvement and maintain a safe, organized work environment.
