The Music Therapist — Full-Time role is onsite in Downers Grove, IL, with work in patients’ homes and healthcare facilities and local travel. Pay is $33–$40 per hour, plus mileage reimbursement. The therapist supports Lighthouse Hospice Care’s hospice patients and families. The therapist provides individualized music interventions to promote comfort and well-being and to address concerns such as anxiety, pain, agitation, and stress. Working with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary group, the role integrates therapy into each patient’s plan of care and documents responses for the care team.

What you'll do

• Evaluate patients with the interdisciplinary group to determine appropriate interventions
• provide individualized and group music therapy sessions
• integrate interventions into patient care plans
• document and report patient responses and significant changes to the RN Case Manager and other team members
• provide emotional support to patients and families
• educate caregivers and team members about music’s role in comfort
• participate in interdisciplinary meetings and relevant education and quality activities.

Why this role

Requires graduation from an approved music therapy program or certification equivalency program and current MT-BC certification in good standing. Some activities, including recordings, memorial music, and instrument adaptation, may be performed when appropriate.
