The Driver Trainee - Paid CDL-A Training role is an onsite position based in Syracuse, NY. Compensation for this role is $78,000 to $95,000 per year after training, with a training pay rate of $22.50 per hour, supporting the distribution operations team at McLane Company, Inc. This role exists to provide comprehensive training for individuals to become professional commercial drivers. The trainee will learn to operate tractor-trailers safely, manage delivery documentation, and assist with product distribution to ensure timely and accurate service to customers.

What you'll do

• Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and handle lines to secure.
• Operates truck in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
• Inspect tractor-trailer equipment for defects pre/post trip and submit DOT inspection report.
• Operates Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH), document delivery receipts/product temperatures and exceptions.
• Rides and trains with Driver Trainer to gain knowledge of commercial driving regulations and vehicle maneuvering.
• Maintain driver log according to DOT regulations.
• Assists the Driver in unloading trailer and delivering product into customer premises.
