The Automotive Firmware Validation Engineer, Connectivity and Audio role is onsite five days a week in Foster City, CA. Compensation is $130,000–$150,000 per year. The engineer supports the Firmware – Connectivity and Audio team at ALTEN Technology USA. This validation-first role tests audio and streaming features, expands test coverage, and investigates defects and field issues across connected in-cabin experiences. Its work helps the team assess feature readiness and deliver reliable firmware through disciplined testing, defect management, and cross-functional coordination.

What you'll do

• Execute functional, integration, regression, and exploratory testing for audio and streaming features on benches and in vehicles
• author test cases and maintain test suites and documentation
• identify coverage gaps and track coverage health
• reproduce defects and analyze logs using tools such as Wireshark, DLT, ADB, HCI/Bluetooth traces, and vehicle logs
• triage field issues and work with fleet support, diagnostics, and firmware teams toward resolution
• manage defects in JIRA through reproduction, severity rationale, fix verification, and regression follow-up
• maintain test benches, in-vehicle rigs, and diagnostic setups
• coordinate with firmware leads, product managers, and integration partners.
