School Age Child Care Coordinator

Job overview

Compensation is $50,000–$55,000 per hour. The School Age Child Care Coordinator is a full-time, onsite role in Rome, NY. The YMCA and Women’s Center of Rome supports youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility through school-age care and enrichment programs. The coordinator leads before- and after-school and summer day camp programming, providing a safe, nurturing environment where children can grow. The role oversees staff and program quality, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports children’s development through purposeful activities and family engagement.

What you'll do

• Develop and manage operating plans, events, and schedules
• recruit, train, evaluate, and supervise staff and volunteers
• direct program activities and develop new offerings
• monitor program effectiveness and maintain reports and records
• ensure compliance with state and local licensing and safety requirements
• plan and supervise developmentally appropriate activities
• communicate with parents and caregivers
• attend family nights, program activities, meetings, and training
• maintain current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
• follow child safety and mandated reporting procedures.

Why this role

Requires an associate’s degree or higher in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation, or a related field, plus two years of experience working with children under 13, including one year in a supervisory capacity. Must meet New York State multi-site director qualifications and pass background screening.
