The Chief Systems Engineer / Architect Lead role is onsite in North Chicago, IL, with an annual salary of $185,000–$225,000. Compensation supports Nationwide IT Services’ work advising USMEPCOM leadership and supporting the Applicant Processing System and enterprise infrastructure. This senior technical advisor designs and integrates secure, resilient enterprise solutions and guides modernization across applications, cloud services, data centers, networks, storage, and security. The role helps align technical decisions and delivery with operational needs and modernization goals.

What you'll do

• Advise USMEPCOM leadership and provide executive-level briefings on architecture, engineering alternatives, risks, modernization priorities, and innovation
• develop enterprise solutions and modernization roadmaps
• guide network and data center modernization
• design hybrid-cloud, high-availability, backup, continuity, and disaster-recovery solutions
• conduct requirements analysis and trade studies
• support secure Agile/DevSecOps integration, testing, and verification
• incorporate RMF controls, DISA STIGs, and vulnerability remediation
• support data platform and analytics integration
• maintain technical documentation and provide knowledge transfer and training.
