Crisis Advocate and Counselor

The Crisis Advocate and Counselor role is onsite in Harrisburg, PA, with starting pay of $24 per hour. The YWCA Greater Harrisburg provides intervention and support services to people affected by domestic and sexual violence. The role provides immediate crisis response and short-term, empowerment-based counseling, helping clients access advocacy, shelter, referrals, and related support. It also contributes to community awareness and prevention initiatives and supports the organization’s VIP/VOCA programming.

What you'll do

• Respond to hotline calls, walk-ins, accompaniments, and crisis coverage
• provide individual and group counseling, advocacy, referrals, outreach, and follow-up
• maintain client documentation and reports
• provide shelter support and intakes
• facilitate support groups
• provide overnight, holiday, and occasional evening coverage as assigned
• support awareness and prevention activities and program administration.
