Dietary Aide

The Dietary Aide role is onsite in Newport, NC. Compensation is $10–$16 per hour. The role supports Carteret House’s culinary team in providing nutritious, high-quality meals to residents. The aide assists with meal preparation and service, kitchen sanitation, food safety, inventory, and resident meal support. This work helps the dietary team provide meals that follow dietary plans and accommodate residents’ individual preferences and needs.

What you'll do

• Help prepare, portion, and serve meals according to dietary plans and special requests
• maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen and dining areas
• wash dishes, utensils, and equipment as needed
• assist residents with meal setup and service
• follow food storage, handling, and sanitation protocols
• receive and store supplies, check inventory, and report shortages
• assist with food preparation and meal service as directed
• help fulfill special dietary requests and resident preferences.

Why this role

Previous food-service experience is preferred but not required; a high school diploma or equivalent is required. A retention bonus is currently offered for employee referrals and for team members who remain employed for 90 days or longer.
