Field Service Engineer, Medium Voltage – Central Region

Job overview

The Field Service Engineer, Medium Voltage – Central Region is a field-based role with a home office in the Houston, TX metropolitan area; compensation is $33–$43 per hour, depending on level, experience, and qualifications. SMA America develops solar inverter technology and solutions for photovoltaic power plants.

What you'll do

• Test, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair medium-voltage systems in the field
• conduct transformer core testing and DGA sampling
• complete test reports and service documentation
• maintain assigned tools, vehicle, and spare-parts inventory
• and support customer satisfaction. At Level II and above, independently troubleshoot systems, perform specified transformer repairs, and serve as a customer contact. At Level III, lead crews, review reports, work with engineering counterparts, and mentor technicians. Regional travel is approximately 80%, with occasional travel elsewhere in the United States
• nonstandard hours, including weekend or night work, may be needed for customer requirements.
