Veterans Peer Specialist

The Veterans Peer Specialist role is onsite in Cape Girardeau, MO, serving Cape, Fredericktown, Marble Hill, Perryville, and Ste. Genevieve counties. The schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with times that may vary and occasional evening or weekend work. Pay is $16.42–$18.82 per hour. Community Counseling Center supports Veterans, Service Members, and eligible family members with recovery, wellness, and connections to community services. Using lived experience, the specialist builds trust and provides individual and group peer support. The role helps participants set goals, strengthen self-advocacy, access services, and build support systems in collaboration with case managers, clinicians, VA providers, and community partners.

What you'll do

• Conduct outreach and engage Veterans and Service Members
• provide individual and group peer support focused on recovery, resilience, coping, and community connections
• help participants identify strengths, set goals, and build self-advocacy
• assist with access to VA services, treatment, housing, employment, and community supports
• provide peer support during crises or transitions while following safety protocols
• collaborate with partners
• participate in outreach, training, and supervision
• maintain documentation and confidentiality.
