The Shelter Worker role is an onsite position based in Jacksonville, Florida, with deployment to disaster response sites statewide when activated. Pay is $20–$22 per hour. The Workforce Group supports communities in partnership with federal, state, and local governments. This seasonal role helps provide displaced residents with a safe, clean, and respectful shelter environment during emergency response operations. Shelter Workers assist with intake, distribute food and supplies, monitor shared areas, document concerns, and help set up or break down facilities.

What you'll do

• Assist with resident intake, registration, and orientation
• distribute meals, hygiene items, bedding, and other supplies
• monitor common areas for safety and cleanliness
• respond to general inquiries and assist with special needs when possible
• document incidents and report concerns to the Shelter Supervisor
• follow shelter policies and safety procedures
• help set up and break down shelter facilities.

Why this role
