Litigation Associate — Legal Malpractice Defense & Business Litigation

Job overview

The Litigation Associate role is onsite in San Jose, CA, with offices also available in San Mateo and Pleasanton; candidates should be based in or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area. Base salary is $175,000–$225,000 per year. The role supports a mid-sized regional law firm’s litigation team.

What you'll do

• Defend attorneys and law firms in professional liability and legal malpractice matters
• litigate business disputes involving contracts, trade secrets, partnerships, and related claims
• manage cases through discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation
• take and defend depositions
• draft and argue dispositive motions
• conduct legal research and develop case strategy
• prepare pleadings and discovery
• participate in mediations, settlement negotiations, hearings, and trials
• communicate directly with clients.
