Director of Engineering Quality & Processes

Job overview

The Director of Engineering Quality & Processes role is onsite in Decatur, IL, with travel to the St. Louis office at least twice monthly and to customer sites for installations. Base salary is $120,000 per year; target total compensation is $135,000 with bonus. The role reports to the Director of Operations and supports Align Production Systems’ custom equipment and material-handling systems business. The director owns quality standards from design release through customer acceptance, with authority to hold releases or shipments that do not meet standards. The role improves design, manufacturing, testing, and field processes to reduce failures and ensure machines are built and accepted to defined requirements.

What you'll do

• Own quality systems across engineering, manufacturing, and field operations
• lead root-cause and corrective actions
• define design release standards and review criteria
• review designs for technical merit, manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, and safety
• establish build and inspection gates
• set functional pretest and factory acceptance testing procedures
• support installations and customer acceptance
• improve design reuse, automation, and engineering standards
• lead and develop quality staff.
