What you'll do

• Perform venipunctures and skin punctures, including vein, finger, and infant heel sticks
• perform therapeutic blood draws
• verify patient identity
• process patient orders and results in computer systems
• label and record tubes
• prepare specimens for testing and transport
• follow standard precautions
• maintain venipuncture supplies and work areas
• prioritize STAT, ASAP, scheduled, and outpatient orders
• assist laboratory technicians and perform clerical work as needed.
