Hardware Engineer II – Component Engineering

The Hardware Engineer II – Component Engineering role is onsite in Sunnyvale, CA. Compensation is $70–$80 per hour. The position supports electrical, electromechanical, and optoelectronic components across hardware products. The component engineer helps ensure parts are technically qualified and supply risks are managed from new product introduction through sustaining. The role contributes to product reliability and supply continuity by coordinating qualification, alternate sourcing, engineering changes, and bill-of-material risk reviews with engineering and sourcing partners.

What you'll do

• Review, qualify, and approve electrical, electromechanical, and optoelectronic components
• execute second- and multi-sourcing activities
• determine component criticality and qualification paths
• manage new part requests and qualified manufacturer part numbers in AVL, PLM, and CBOM
• execute engineering changes and track product change notices
• perform up-screening, derating, and component failure analysis
• conduct BOM risk reviews
• support supplier inquiries and shortage escalations.
