Veterinary Technician – Oncology is an onsite role in San Rafael, CA, paying $30 to $36 per hour depending on experience. The schedule is Tuesday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. The role supports the oncology service at PESCM, a 24/7 veterinary hospital in Marin County. The technician supports the oncologist in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures while providing nursing care and client education. This work contributes to the hospital's specialty care and its mission to improve medicine, service, communication, and care for pets and people.

What you'll do

• Oversee appointments and manage clients during visits. Participate with oncologists in inpatient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures. Obtain and process laboratory samples
• use radiography and CT for patient and procedural assessment
• execute, monitor, and recover assigned sedation and anesthetic events
• calculate and deliver anesthetic agents, fluids, and CRIs accurately
• review relevant medical records
• provide patient nursing care and advocacy
• maintain equipment
• and educate clients about oncology disease processes.

Why this role

Registered Veterinary Technician experience is sought; experience preparing and administering chemotherapeutic agents is a plus. The hospital will also consider considerable veterinary assistant or uncredentialed technician experience for a Veterinary Assistant Level 4 position. Registered Veterinary Technicians are eligible for a $6,000 sign-on bonus.
