Residential Counselor / Mental Health Technician

The Residential Counselor / Mental Health Technician role is onsite in Fort Lauderdale, FL, supporting adult residents at NBI Ranch. Pay is $20 per hour for day shifts and $25 per hour for night shifts. Neurobehavioral Institute provides specialized assessment and treatment services, including residential support. The counselor helps maintain a safe, structured residential setting while supporting residents’ daily living needs, emotional well-being, and behavioral support. Working with program directors, clinicians, and other staff, the role contributes to continuity of treatment and resident care.

What you'll do

• Supervise and support residents
• assist with daily living activities, housekeeping, meals, and organization
• provide emotional support and companionship
• monitor safety and whereabouts
• transport residents to programs
• maintain house structure and rules
• assist with conflict resolution and behavioral interventions
• communicate progress and incidents to clinical staff
• support group activities
• maintain facility cleanliness and safety
• respond to crises and emergencies.

Why this role

Requires a high school diploma, at least two years of professional experience in a related field, and a valid driver’s license. Associate or bachelor’s degree and RBT certification are preferred; CPR/First Aid may be obtained. Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.
