STR’s Sensors Division develops advanced sensor systems for national security, and its Optical & Novel Sensing Group conducts physics-driven research for defense and intelligence missions. The architect defines system and software requirements and designs embedded signal-processing solutions for resource-constrained platforms. The role helps translate mission needs into reliable implementations, optimize software across CPUs, DSPs, and FPGAs, and provide technical guidance to the engineering team.

What you'll do

• Analyze customer use cases and signal-processing algorithms to develop system and software requirements
• evaluate CPU, DSP, FPGA, or hybrid architectures
• architect, design, and implement embedded middleware or application software
• optimize and port software for resource-constrained systems
• define processor/FPGA functional splits
• collaborate with spacecraft and satellite integrators and internal stakeholders
• mentor team members and conduct code reviews.
