Assistant Cook

The Assistant Cook role is onsite in New York, NY, and pays $20.50 per hour. The City Hall Older Adult Center provides meals, services, and activities to older adults; this position supports its food service team. The schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., 35 hours per week. The assistant cook helps prepare and serve congregate meals that meet city aging and health department standards. The role supports kitchen operations through food preparation, supply organization, menu planning, cost reporting, sanitation, and meal service when the Head Cook is absent.

What you'll do

• Assist with food preparation, cooking, and packaging grab-and-go meals
• transport and organize food supplies
• participate in menu planning
• prepare daily food cost reports
• maintain inventory and proper storage
• clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and areas
• assume meal preparation and service responsibilities when the Head Cook is absent
• assist with food purchasing
• comply with DFTA and DOH standards
• attend meetings and required training.
