The Detention Officer role is onsite in Rock Springs, WY. Compensation is $25.91–$32.78 per hour. The position supports Sweetwater County’s jail operations and the secure custody and care of inmates. The officer maintains facility security and order while booking, processing, supervising, and transporting inmates, completing records and reports, and carrying out related facility duties.

What you'll do

• Maintain security of the facility, prisoners, and vendors
• record and file records
• transport inmates to court, medical, and other facilities
• conduct cell checks
• dispense prisoner medication and cleaning supplies
• prepare meals
• fingerprint citizens
• supervise visitors and inmate mail
• wash laundry and clean the facility
• prepare incident and activity reports
• perform VIN inspections
• book, process, fingerprint, photograph, classify, search, and release inmates
• carry and qualify with a firearm.
