Compensation is $72,400–$222,500 per year. The Deputy Head of Contracts & Asset Management is an onsite role based in Silver Spring, MD. , with a range of $72,400 to $222,500 annually. This position supports the Contracts & Asset Management Group at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), which provides critical expertise to national defense, security, space, and science challenges. This leadership role exists to partner with the Group Head in overseeing the daily operations of a 50-person team. The incumbent will drive strategic initiatives, manage complex federal prime contracting portfolios, and foster a culture of accountability and professional growth within the organization.

What you'll do

• Oversee day-to-day operations of a large contracting organization.
• Partner with the Group Head to set priorities and align resources.
• Coach managers and develop high-potential staff.
• Establish performance metrics to improve efficiency.
• Advise on complex contract strategy, negotiations, and FAR/DFARS regulatory interpretation.
• Lead process modernization efforts including digital and AI-enabled solutions.
