Mechanical Insulator Helper (Training Provided)

The Mechanical Insulator Helper role is onsite in the Hampton Roads, VA area. Compensation is $18–$22+ per hour. The position supports Retro Insulation, a mechanical insulation and heat-tracing contractor serving federal, commercial, and industrial facilities. The helper learns and assists with installing insulation on pipes, ducts, and mechanical equipment, contributing to temperature control, energy efficiency, equipment protection, and safe operation of facilities. The role works with other trades on construction and retrofit projects while following safety requirements.

What you'll do

• Learn to measure, cut, and install insulation materials on pipes, ducts, and mechanical equipment
• assist with insulation on HVAC, refrigeration, and other hot and cold systems
• read blueprints and specifications
• follow safety requirements and building codes
• collaborate with contractors and other trades on assigned projects. Must be able to travel within the 757 cities and pass a background check for military badging.
