Job overview

The Field Service Repair Technician role is an onsite, truck-based position serving customer hospitals in the greater Omaha area and nearby cities, with recurring overnight trips to Tea, South Dakota. The schedule is primarily Monday through Friday on first shift. Compensation is $21–$23 per hour. STERIS provides healthcare and life science product and service solutions intended to help customers create a healthier and safer world. The technician inspects and repairs surgical instruments so they are functioning properly for use in patient care. Working with two other technicians, the role provides mobile repair services at customer hospitals and supports the company’s service to healthcare customers.

What you'll do

  • Perform basic to intermediate inspection and repairs on surgical instruments using grinding and buffing wheels, hand and power tools, and soldering
  • travel with colleagues to customer hospitals
  • drive to meet colleagues in Tea, South Dakota for overnight trips, usually several days in a row, two or three times per month
  • use a personal vehicle for those trips with mileage reimbursement
  • complete required training and maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Why this role

No previous instrument repair experience is required; hands-on training is provided. Overnight trips to Tea, South Dakota usually occur several days in a row, two or three times per month; travel time is paid and personal-vehicle mileage is reimbursed for those trips.
