The General Operator – Heat Treating is an onsite, full-time, first-shift role in Rockford, IL, paying $17 per hour starting. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Hughes Recruiting & Consulting is recruiting for a customer in Rockford; the customer’s production operation includes heat treating, straightening, blackening, and saw departments. The operator supports production by running equipment across secondary-process departments, setting up and calibrating machines, checking product dimensions and quality, and recording production information. Flexibility across departments helps maintain production workflow and product specifications.

What you'll do

• Operate equipment in heat treating, straightening, blackening, and saw departments
• perform machine setup, calibration, and changeovers
• inspect products with calipers, micrometers, and gauges
• document production, machine performance, quality, and material usage in ERP systems
• coordinate with maintenance to troubleshoot downtime
• maintain a clean, safe work area
• handle materials with cranes, forklifts, or other equipment
• perform quality checks and flex across departments.
