The Medical Assistant I — East Bakersfield Community Health Center role is onsite in Bakersfield, CA. Compensation is $25–$28.50 per hour. Clinica Sierra Vista is a Federally Qualified Health Center serving agricultural workers and people in urban, rural, and isolated communities, including patients across a range of incomes and cultural backgrounds. The Medical Assistant I provides routine patient care and technical and supportive functions in a medical clinic, within the scope of California requirements and established protocols. The role assists providers with clinical and clerical tasks, supports procedures and examinations, performs venipuncture and other lab duties, and documents care while maintaining patient confidentiality.

What you'll do

• Perform routine patient care under licensed providers and established protocols
• facilitate assigned providers’ work through clerical functions
• prepare and administer medications as directed
• verify patient identity using two forms of identification
• assist with special procedures, minor surgery, and diagnostic examinations
• follow infection-control practices
• perform venipuncture and other lab duties
• document patient information, procedures, and responses in the electronic health record
• maintain confidentiality.
