Certified Addiction Counselor

The Certified Addiction Counselor role is onsite in Clinton, MD, and pays $40 per hour. Brighter Days Recovery Center is seeking a counselor to provide substance use disorder counseling and recovery support. The counselor assesses treatment needs, delivers evidence-based individual and group interventions, and coordinates care with a multidisciplinary team. The work supports recovery, relapse prevention, and continuity of care for people experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.

What you'll do

• Conduct substance use assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
• provide individual and group counseling using motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral interventions, and relapse prevention strategies
• monitor progress and provide appropriate crisis intervention
• coordinate care with physicians, psychiatric providers, nursing staff, case managers, and behavioral health professionals
• maintain clinical documentation
• educate patients about substance use disorders and recovery resources
• comply with HIPAA and applicable confidentiality and regulatory requirements
• participate in supervision, training, continuing education, and quality improvement.
