HPC Systems Engineer

The HPC Systems Engineer role is hybrid in Longmont, CO, with periodic support at the Berthoud facility and Denver Tech Center and ongoing support for Ohio facilities. Compensation is $108,000–$135,000 per year. The role supports Ursa Major’s Digital Operations team and its propulsion engineering analysis teams. This engineer expands and optimizes high-performance computing clusters while serving as an enterprise Linux subject matter expert. The work helps engineering teams run complex simulation workloads at greater scale and supports secure, automated Linux infrastructure across company facilities.

What you'll do

• Design, deploy, expand, and optimize Linux-based HPC clusters, storage, and compute nodes
• administer Slurm or PBS scheduling
• integrate and optimize simulation software and GPU workloads
• manage high-throughput storage and network fabrics
• provide Level 2/3 Linux infrastructure escalation
• automate provisioning, configuration, patching, and onboarding
• integrate identity and access controls
• maintain security controls aligned with NIST SP 800-171, CMMC Level 2, and ITAR/CUI requirements
• monitor system health
• maintain architecture diagrams, SOPs, and security plans.
