ESL Class Support Intern

Job overview

The ESL Class Support Intern role is hybrid in Sacramento, CA, with one day in the office and four days working from home. The internship is unpaid; university credit may be available with prior approval. The intern supports World Relief Sacramento’s Education team, which provides ESL literacy instruction to Afghan women with little or no prior education. The intern assists the ESL instructor during virtual classes and supports preparation, testing, attendance tracking, and administrative work. The role contributes to accessible literacy instruction while providing supervised teaching experience with small online groups.

What you'll do

• Attend ESL literacy tutor training and shadow the ESL instructor
• learn and implement literacy teaching techniques with preliterate Afghan learners
• support virtual classes, including breakout groups, attendance tracking, and testing or recording learning gains
• organize online video resources
• create, update, and print instructional materials
• help prepare and distribute educational materials
• provide general office support as required.
