The Evening Program Assistant role is onsite in Seattle, WA. Pay is $25.24 per hour. Jan & Peter's Place is a women's shelter providing a safe place to sleep, meals, case management, and support services for guests experiencing homelessness. The assistant monitors shelter activity and helps maintain a safe, comfortable environment. Through trauma-informed support, de-escalation, referrals, security monitoring, and assistance with program activities, the role contributes to the shelter's daily services for guests.

What you'll do

• Monitor activity in and around the building
• respond to issues and help maintain safety and comfort
• mediate conflicts and provide de-escalation and crisis intervention
• assist with meals, laundry access, and group activities
• assess needs and provide information and referrals
• monitor cameras and conduct security rounds
• log incidents and actions
• control after-hours access
• follow emergency procedures
• perform light janitorial duties as assigned.

Scheduled Wednesday–Friday, 3:30 PM–11:30 PM, and Saturday–Sunday, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM, with a monthly staff meeting on the second Thursday. The position is unionized and not eligible for remote work.
