What you'll do

• Complete preliminary underwriting for conventional, portfolio, USDA/RD, and VA loan requests
• review and decide mortgage loan requests, including complex USDA/RD, VA, jumbo, and portfolio loans
• review credit, income, asset, tax, appraisal, title, and other loan documentation
• document loan conditions and communicate requirements or decisions
• identify alternative loan structures
• respond to customer inquiries and audit requests
• monitor underwriting inboxes
• assist with workflow management
• mentor and train underwriting, processing, and closing staff.

Why this role

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of mortgage underwriting experience and 3+ years with automated underwriting systems. A related bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and education is sought. Preferred qualifications include VA underwriting credentials and Encompass experience.
