Senior Software Engineer, Control Systems

The Senior Software Engineer, Control Systems role is onsite at least three days per week in Boulder, CO, or Austin, TX. The base salary range is $150,000–$175,000 per year, with an annual bonus and company equity also offered. Atom Computing builds quantum computers using optically trapped neutral atoms. The engineer designs and builds high-performance control systems for quantum computing platforms, developing deterministic, high-throughput software and coordinating hardware and software components to support processor operation, scaling, and performance.

What you'll do

• Build and test embedded firmware and software for software-defined radios, imaging pipelines, scientific instrumentation, and real-time feedback loops
• develop low-latency software, device drivers, Linux kernel modules, and custom subsystems
• architect real-time execution across Linux and RTOS
• coordinate GPUs, FPGAs, and custom electronics
• prototype with Rust, Python, C/C++, CUDA, and FPGA toolchains
• collaborate with theory, hardware, and platform software teams.
