Technical Planner

Job overview

The Technical Planner role is onsite at customer facilities and shipyards in Portsmouth, VA, and pays $32–$38 per hour. The planner supports shipyard production and repair work. The role identifies shipboard deficiencies, develops technically accurate work instructions and material lists, and resolves specification conflicts. It helps production teams plan repairs and replacements while ensuring technical requirements and supporting documentation are accurate.

What you'll do

• Identify shipboard deficiencies during inspections
• develop technical work instructions for production
• determine instructions required for approved work scopes
• resolve specification conflicts or identify approved substitutes
• coordinate repair and replacement plans
• determine quality evidence and test requirements
• coordinate instruction need dates and technical clarifications
• develop job material lists
• assist Purchasing with qualified vendors
• obtain IMIA Structural Inspector Certification.
