Ophthalmic Technician

Job overview

The Ophthalmic Technician role is onsite in Park Ridge, IL, with Monday–Friday clinic work and no weekends. Compensation is $22–$28 per hour. The position supports patient care at Eye Specialists of Illinois. The technician performs preliminary examinations and diagnostic testing, documents findings, and assists with clinic workflows and procedures. These duties support physicians and help provide accurate, coordinated ophthalmic care to patients.

What you'll do

• Perform preliminary exams including patient histories, visual acuity, lensometry, refractometry, pupil evaluation, EOMs, visual fields, angle assessment, and tonometry
• perform diagnostic testing such as OCT, HVF, topography, and A-scan
• administer medications as directed
• document chart notes
• instruct patients about medications, tests, and procedures
• assist with in-office procedures
• maintain exam rooms and patient confidentiality
• support patient flow and clinic assignments.

Why this role

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, one to two years of ophthalmology practice experience, EHR experience, and basic computer skills. NextGen EHR, bilingual ability, and JCAHPO certification are preferred but not required.
