Machine Operations Assistant (Operator Trainee) — Third Shift

The Machine Operations Assistant (Operator Trainee) role is onsite in Des Plaines, IL, with a schedule of 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.; shifts may run 8–12 hours. Pay is $19.52 per hour plus a $0.26-per-hour shift differential. The role supports production at International Paper’s Des Plaines facility. Working alongside an experienced Machine Operator, the trainee helps set up, feed, and monitor equipment, perform quality checks, and track waste. Hands-on training is intended to build the skills needed to qualify as an Operator and help meet production goals.

What you'll do

• Support Machine Operators with equipment operation and changeovers
• follow work orders and machine instructions
• perform and document routine quality checks
• keep machines and surrounding areas clean
• identify hazards and follow safety procedures
• help monitor and reduce scrap and waste.
