The Senior Staff Embedded Applications Engineer, TinyML Lab role is onsite in Columbia, MD. The role leads Renesas's physical Edge AI Applications Lab, supporting customer proof-of-concept work, internal research and development, and cross-business-unit hardware integrations. The engineer leads physical prototyping and sensor-data work, develops digital signal processing pipelines, and deploys optimized TinyML models on microcontrollers. The role also collaborates with customers and product teams and mentors junior lab engineers, helping bring edge-AI solutions into Renesas silicon and commercial devices.

What you'll do

• Manage physical lab facilities, equipment, procurement, and project scheduling
• lead assembly of prototype rigs, sensor arrays, and microelectronic setups
• instrument systems and capture, clean, and preprocess high-frequency sensor data
• design DSP feature-extraction pipelines and deploy optimized, quantized TinyML models on microcontrollers
• collaborate with customers and internal product teams to debug firmware and demonstrate hardware solutions
• mentor junior lab engineers.
