Head Start Classroom Assistant/Bus Driver

The Head Start Classroom Assistant/Bus Driver role is onsite in Petersburg, IL. Compensation is $19 per hour. The position supports Head Start children through classroom assistance focused on health and nutrition and safe, timely transportation. Working under teacher guidance, the assistant helps deliver classroom activities and child health support while maintaining transportation safety and required program compliance. The combined classroom and driving duties contribute to children's daily care and readiness activities.

What you'll do

• Plan weekly health and nutrition lessons and monthly cooking experiences
• perform bus monitor duties and transport children and volunteers safely
• inspect and maintain the bus and schedule maintenance
• develop routes and monitor road conditions
• conduct evacuation drills and complete transportation paperwork
• prepare meals and snacks
• assist with screenings, records, health files, classroom activities, and family involvement.
