Animal Eye Care Associates specializes in diagnosing and treating eye conditions to preserve vision, improve comfort, and enhance patients’ quality of life. The technician or assistant supports doctors and the specialty team during appointments, diagnostics, treatments, and surgical cases. The role contributes to patient care and client experience through safe handling, procedure support, monitoring, documentation, and client education.
What you'll do
- Safely handle and restrain patients
- obtain histories and document medical records
- assist with ophthalmic examinations and diagnostic testing
- prepare patients and treatment areas
- assist with surgical preparation and sterile technique
- monitor patients before, during, and after procedures
- monitor anesthesia and record vitals based on experience and credentials
- place IV catheters and draw blood based on skill level
- collect and process laboratory samples
- administer veterinarian-directed medications and treatments
- maintain and sterilize instruments
- provide care during hospitalization and recovery
- educate clients
- maintain clean, stocked treatment and surgical areas.
