Close-Tolerance CNC Machinist — Aerospace and Defense Job Shop

The Close-Tolerance CNC Machinist role is onsite in Elk Grove Village, IL, with pay of $25–$35 per hour based on experience. Acme Machining produces complex machined components for aerospace, defense, power generation, mining, and transportation customers. The machinist operates and sets up CNC milling and/or turning equipment, monitors dimensions and process variation, and records inspection results. The work supports precision production and first-pass quality on varied job-shop parts.

What you'll do

• Operate CNC machining centers and/or lathes to prints, travelers, and quality plans
• maintain tolerances of ±0.001 inch or tighter
• measure parts with precision gauges and adjust tool wear and offsets
• identify process issues and communicate them before scrap occurs
• perform simple-to-moderate setups and first-piece verification
• read drawings and GD&T
• complete in-process and final inspections
• follow ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D procedures, safety practices, and 5S.
