Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor is an onsite role in Las Cruces, NM, paying $30–$35 per hour. Ideal Option provides low-barrier, evidence-based outpatient treatment for opioid use disorder. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 40 hours per week. The counselor provides patient-centered substance use disorder assessments and counseling, supporting patients receiving outpatient care, including medication-assisted treatment. The role contributes to coordinated, ethical care through treatment planning, referrals, collaboration with medical and behavioral health staff, and accurate clinical documentation.

What you'll do

• Conduct substance use disorder assessments and evaluations
• administer and document screening tools including PHQ-9 and GAD-7
• provide individual counseling using evidence-based approaches as medically necessary
• support recovery engagement, maintenance, and relapse prevention
• identify psychosocial needs and develop individualized treatment goals
• coordinate care and referrals
• document assessments, plans, progress, screenings, and referrals in the EHR
• participate in team meetings, supervision, and case consultations
• comply with New Mexico licensing requirements, confidentiality rules, HIPAA, and 42 CFR Part 2.
