Patient Referral Specialist

The Patient Referral Specialist role is onsite in Independence, IA. Pay is $17–$20 per hour. The position supports a therapist-owned outpatient therapy clinic serving patients through physical, occupational, and speech therapy. The specialist is the first point of contact for new patients and helps prevent delays in care by processing referrals, verifying insurance, obtaining authorizations, and scheduling patients with the appropriate therapist. The role also supports front-office operations and accurate, HIPAA-compliant records.

What you'll do

• Process new patient referrals and schedule patients with the appropriate therapist. Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations when required
• provide new patients with paperwork and explain pre-visit requirements
• audit and track patient files. Answer phones, check patients in and out, collect copays, manage therapist schedules, maintain a HIPAA-compliant and welcoming clinic, order supplies, handle mail, and provide administrative support.
