Caregiver — Personal Care Assistant / Home Health Aide

Job overview

The Caregiver role is onsite in clients’ homes in Merrillville, IN, and nearby communities. Pay is $14–$17 per hour. Assisting Hands Home Care – Merrillville provides non-medical, one-on-one support to seniors and adults at home. Caregivers follow each client’s care plan to support personal care, mobility, companionship, and a safe home environment. They also observe and report changes, helping clients remain comfortable and supported in their homes.

What you'll do

• Depending on the client’s care plan, assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, and other personal care
• support walking and transfers and use mobility equipment
• perform light housekeeping, laundry, dishwashing, and organization
• provide companionship and social engagement
• offer medication reminders but do not administer medication
• observe and report changes in condition, appearance, or behavior
• document care and communicate with the office using a mobile app
• follow infection prevention, safety, confidentiality, and agency policies.
