Court Advocate

Job overview

The Court Advocate works onsite in Topeka, KS, Monday–Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., with on-call rotation that may include after-hours, overnight, weekends, or holidays. Salary is $42,500 per year. The role supports the YWCA Northeast Kansas Center for Safety and Empowerment and its survivor-centered services. The advocate helps people affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking navigate legal processes and access safety and support services. The role provides crisis response, court accompaniment, case coordination, referrals, and collaboration with justice-system and community partners.

What you'll do

• Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and advocacy
• assist with protection-order filings and explain legal processes
• attend court dockets and support clients during proceedings
• respond to hotline calls, walk-ins, and referrals
• coordinate case services and referrals
• maintain relationships with legal and community partners
• document client contacts and outcomes confidentially.
