Principal AI Platform Engineer / Cloud Architect — Enterprise Transformation

Job overview

The Principal AI Platform Engineer / Cloud Architect role is onsite in Chicago, IL, with compensation of $155,000–$220,000 per year. The role leads enterprise AI platform and cloud transformation work, including production operations. This position exists to design and operate secure, scalable, reliable AI platforms and production AI/ML environments. It combines hands-on AI engineering, cloud and platform architecture, Site Reliability Engineering, and AIOps to support mission-critical or regulated systems.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain enterprise AI platforms and cloud infrastructure
• develop and integrate generative AI, large language model, retrieval-augmented generation, and agent solutions
• implement and operate AIOps and observability platforms
• lead cloud transformation across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP
• support production AI/ML deployment, monitoring, lifecycle management, and optimization
• develop infrastructure automation and CI/CD
• implement infrastructure using Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and service meshes
• integrate AI development tools into engineering workflows
• collaborate with architecture, operations, security, and delivery teams
• establish engineering and operational practices for mission-critical and regulated platforms.
