Network Engineer

Job overview

The Network Engineer role is onsite in Cranberry, PA, and is not remote. Compensation is $60,000–$100,000 per year. The position supports Sophos’s Network Security Group, which develops firewall, secure Wi-Fi, and secure web gateway products. The engineer builds and maintains lab infrastructure used by development and quality assurance teams across Sophos labs and data centers. Reliable, documented systems and responsive troubleshooting help engineering teams develop and test security products and maintain lab uptime.

What you'll do

• Install, network, and configure firewall appliances, servers, and other lab hardware
• install software, typically Linux distributions, reproducibly
• support lab uptime and engineering development and testing
• diagnose recurring infrastructure issues
• maintain networking and site infrastructure
• improve lab infrastructure
• perform backup and restore of network device configurations
• maintain inventory and documentation
• support patching, hardware refresh, and decommissioning
• record work in JIRA and plan effort using scrum principles.
