Accounting Assistant

The Accounting Assistant role is onsite in Geismar, LA, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Compensation is $20–$22 per hour, depending on experience. The role reports to the Accounting Manager at Bengal Transportation Services. The assistant supports daily accounting work by organizing documents, entering invoice and transaction information, checking records for accuracy, and helping prepare accounts payable materials. The role contributes to orderly financial records and routine accounting follow-up while protecting confidential company and vendor information.

What you'll do

• Receive, organize, scan, and file accounting documents
• enter invoice and transaction information
• check documents for completeness and mathematical accuracy
• match invoices with supporting records
• update spreadsheets and vendor records
• assemble payment packets
• gather information for reconciliations and month-end tasks
• respond to routine document requests
• maintain files and confidentiality
• assist with telephone coverage and office support.
