Assistant Maintenance Manager

The Assistant Maintenance Manager role is onsite in Norfolk, VA, at the Reserves at Tidewater apartment community. Compensation is $32 per hour. The role supports the community’s physical upkeep, resident service, and safety under the direction of the Maintenance Manager. The assistant manager coordinates and performs maintenance and repair work, oversees preventive maintenance and apartment turns, and helps manage supplies, contractors, and expenses. The role also supports staff training and scheduling and participates in after-hours emergency requests to maintain property coverage.

What you'll do

• Direct and oversee community maintenance
• schedule and perform preventive maintenance, inspections, lighting audits, and janitorial services
• maintain work-order and contract records
• inspect the property for curb appeal and safety
• coordinate apartment turns and renovations
• manage supplies and inventory
• coordinate contracted services and review bids
• document safety meetings
• complete resident service requests
• train and mentor team members
• create service employee work and on-call schedules
• participate in after-hours emergency requests.

Why this role

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, Universal CFC certification, a valid driver’s license, four or more years of apartment maintenance and repair experience, and two or more years of supervisory experience. Must be available 24/7 for emergencies.
